What is Pacific X?
Lürssen now lists the yacht as Pacific X and identifies its original name as Pacific. The builder states that it was delivered in 2010, is approximately 85 metres long, and was designed by German Frers on the exterior and Bannenberg & Rowell on the interior. Historical insurer records identify Pacific as IMO 9569293. Steamship Mutual’s employer’s liability register for the 2011 policy year lists that name and number on PDF page 42. Skuld also lists Pacific under the same number in historical entries, including the row on PDF page 1901 with a cover period ending on 15 June 2022. The IMO number remains attached to a ship through name, flag and ownership changes. That makes it useful for matching historical records to the same vessel. It is not an ownership certificate. International Maritime Organization
Why is the yacht associated with Mikhelson?
A Forbes Italy report dated 7 October 2022 associates Pacific with Leonid Mikhelson in its table of yachts. That is a dated journalistic attribution. The public report does not supply a documentary corporate chain establishing his continuing ownership or control. What remains unverified?
The current registered title holder and beneficial owner have not been confirmed in this review. A name change does not prove a sale. Equally, an old attribution does not establish that the same person still controls a vessel.
The historical insurance records contain dated cover entries and flag labels. A cover end date is not a verified date of a flag change, a transfer of ownership or a sanctions measure. Steamship Mutual also cautions that listing in its policy-year register does not necessarily mean a vessel was covered throughout the whole year.
